Reclaiming Ydl Partition For Mac

Posted on

Hi everyone, I have three partitions on my MBP drive. System Apps (or Mac HD) which holds only my apps 2. OSX-Server 3. Personal Drive for all my docs, music and such. Well, I never use the OSX-Server partition, it's just taking up space.

My System is getting low on space so I want to get rid of the OSX-Server (I have a back up of it anyway if ever needed I guess) and reclaim this space over to my System Apps Drive. I have iPartition that was used to resize some partitions earlier but I'm not sure this will do what I want?

A friend was concerned that Disk Utility would end up erasing my System Apps partition as well as the OSX-Server Partition. Is that true? Is it safe to use disk utility to remove that partition without effecting the System Apps or Personal Drive at all? Can I add that extra space to the System Apps partition from Disk Utility without causing issues? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Hi Pondini, I have just seen this thread and your link and have a question. I have 2 partitions on an external HDD: one for Time Machine and one for Superduper!

I have decided to make the clones onto another external HDD and want to use the existing HDD just for Time Machine using one partition. My problem is that the Time Machine partition is below the Superduper! Partition in Disk Utility and I can't drag the TM partition up to recover the empty partition above it. Many thanks for any help you can provide.
